If your goal is to stay fit all year long, instead of for a short period of time, continue reading to discover a few smart tips which will kickstart your fitness journey!
How to stay fit all year long:
1. Find challenging events to train for throughout the year
If you sign up for challenging endurance based events, throughout the year, you’ll be far more likely to commit to your workout regime. As the last thing you want to do is to turn up to a half marathon, marathon or triathlon without completing adequate training.
If you’re not fit enough to sign up for a half marathon or full distance triathlon, simply begin by signing up for a local 5 km or 10 km fun run or mini triathlon and work your way up to completing a marathon or full triathlon.
2. Purchase work out gear that you’ll look forward to wearing
Instead of making do with an oversized t-shirt which you brought years ago and a pair of track pants, it’s well worth treating yourself to a workout wardrobe that will inspire you to workout more often. As a bonus, if you feel confident in your workout outfits, you’ll be more likely to give your outfits your all.
3. Purchase a fitness tracker in order to record all of your workouts
You can’t go wrong purchasing a fitness tracker in order to keep an accurate record of your daily workouts. Some of the statistics, which you’ll be able to keep track of include your pace, the length of your workouts and how many calories you’ve burnt.
Some brands of fitness trackers even allow you to compare the distance you’ve covered each day and the calories which you’ve burnt against your friends and family members, who own the same brand of fitness tracker.
4. Make sure that you belong to a supportive, encouraging gym or sports club
If you prefer working out with others and enjoy belonging to a gym or a sports club, make sure that the gym or club which you choose boasts an inclusive, supportive and friendly environment. As if you’re able to make friends at your gym or as part of a sports club you’ll have people to help keep you on track to meet your fitness and health-related goals.
5. Focus on working out consistently instead of prolonged periods of time
It’s far wiser to complete 5-6, 60-minute workouts per week than to work out for 1.5 hours twice a week. So set yourself a goal of working out more consistently, instead of forcing yourself to complete, ultra long, grueling fitness sessions.
6. Consider hiring a personal trainer
If you’d like to learn how to complete all of your favorite exercises using the proper form and how to make the most out of your workouts, you may want to consider paying for a personal trainer for a set period of time.
7. Consider completing home workouts, when you don’t have time to drive to your gym
As examples, you may want to jump rope in your backyard and to complete body resistance exercises such as push ups, planks, and crunches.
If you start implementing the 7 tips listed above, you shouldn’t have any trouble staying fit and healthy all year long!
