Music and Dance from Zimbabwe - Music at Noon Presented by Santa Clara University Department of Music at Santa Clara University - Recital Hall February 15, 2012 Under the direction of Julia Tsitsi Chigamba, the Chinyakare Ensemble boasts a collection of diverse and experienced musicians from Africa, the United States, and beyond. True to its name, "deep traditional in the arts of our ancestors," the ensemble performs traditional dance, mbira, drums, marimba, and song from Shona and other tribal groups from around Zimbabwe.

Hawaiian Guitar and Ukelele - Music at Noon Presented by Santa Clara University Department of Music at Santa Clara University - Recital Hall February 29, 2012 A consummate guitarist, Neil Hogan is also a singer, songwriter, arranger, and composer and a master of the Hawaiian Slack key guitar and Ukelele. Neil has played with Kelo Beamer, Laurence Juber, and Al Stewart. When not performing, Neil teaches guitar online at Totally Guitars.

    03/07/12	Flamenco Music and Dance - Music at Noon Santa Clara University - Recital Hall Flamenco Music and Dance - Music at Noon Presented by Santa Clara University Department of Music at Santa Clara University - Recital Hall March 7, 2012 Dancer Gretchen Murdock will be joined by live Spanish flamenco guitar and song. The performers will present several different flamenco palos--musical forms--including Sevillanas and Bulerias Por Fin de Fiesta. Murdock performs throughout the Bay Area and is one of the featured dancers at the monthly Misio Flamenca concert series in San Francisco.
