Built in 1936, the Civic Auditorium is a Spanish Mission-style dual-level auditorium that hosts a variety of events including performing arts, general assembly, community and sporting events. Located directly across the street from the San Jose McEnery Convention Center, it features 3,060 seats and four meeting rooms. The Civic Auditorium provides additional exhibit and general assembly space in conjunction with the Convention Center and Parkside Hall.

As a long-standing, major concert venue, it has hosted such legends as the Rolling Stones, The Who, Bob Dylan, Jefferson Airplane, Frank Sinatra, Barbara Streisand, The Grateful Dead and the Beach Boys. Big band leaders Duke Ellington and Harry James have also appeared. In recent years, it has featured music acts including Beck, Interpol, Switchfoot, Reliant K, Snoop Dog and My Chemical Romance.
