    The stunning interior and overall architecture of the Cathedral Basilica of St. Joseph in San Jose are widely noted. The Cathedral is known as one of the Bay Area's most acoustically and visually exquisite venues, particularly for chant and early music. Groups such as Schola Cantorum, San Jose Symphonic Choir and Chanticleer proclaim that the cathedral makes for a wonderful acoustical experience. Originally established as a mission in 1799, the Cathedral continues to be an active place of worship, as well as providing an inspiring performance space for choral and music ensembles.
