Contrasts of Dark and Light Choral Concert Presented by Santa Clara University Department of Music at Mission Santa Clara de Asis March 9, 2012 On the eve of the spring equinox, the Santa Clara Concert Choir and Chamber Singers will present a program of musical contrasts--dark and light. Drawing from all musical eras, the program includes choral works from Renaissance masters as well as contemporary composers and features the world premiere of a set of choral pieces by the music department's own Nicole Samanez, '11.

The program will include favorites such as Whitacre’s Water Night and When David Heard that Absolom was Slain, Pärt’s Magnificat, and Tavener’s Butterfly Dreams, a multi-movement work set to seven poems about butterflies.
