An extraordinary selection of extremely talented actors that lift a difficult script to a remarkable level of intellect, drama and humor. We are treated to the softer side of a small group of rugged early 20th century British coal miners as they get fine art lessons. How to paint and what makes a new work worthwhile. It's a great story as they come up for air from the dangerous, exhausting and low-paying hard labors of a coal mine and sit well-dressed in sport jackets and slacks for their art class. These members of the British working class happen to have the talent and desire to transfer their view of the world from a miner's lamp to a creative image on canvas. There is a great deal of wit drying the paint of their bituminous world as the play moves us along through the decades of this real story. Their art teacher holds no class prejudice and nourishes their potential to express passion with a paint brush. Collapse

For beginners, this is a fine introduction to learn the dances of Iran and Central Asia. The first class you may try free. Based on Farima's amazing ability and expertise in these dances, intermediate and accomplished dancers with some basic ballet will also benefit. Until introduced to her class, I never knew of these dances nor found an instructor that could interest me in them. Now I've grown to appreciate their beauty and ages old culture. Farima demonstrates figures very thoroughly and we practice moves multiple times all to beautiful music of the region. The student need not progress further but is encouraged to learn a group choreography. Students participate in more skillful dances as they progress. Farima encourages her students to perform in costume with her at various cultural events or festivals. This is a valuable experience for any would-be performer. Collapse

We had a great time dancing here. The floor is super high quality. It wasn't crowded, but I did get asked to dance by at least 5 different leaders, and they danced fairly well (social/easy to follow). I really enjoyed the "mixer" waltz and swing. I also like that the dance starts early enough you can get home at a decent time. Collapse

The renovated gallery has a remarkable number of works in it, yet in most places feels airy rather than crowded. The works on paper, especially the recent etchings of ancient ruins, have incredible detail -- stand up close and peer in. Several paintings will be familiar to regular museum-goers, but it's nice to see them back. Very enjoyable. Collapse
