Organization
The California Youth Symphony, founded in 1952, is California's first independent youth orchestra. The music director of the California Youth Symphony is maestro Leo Eylar. CYS currently trains about 500 musicians between the ages of 8 and 17 in nine different programs. Its main orchestra performs concerts locally and abroad (every other year) and has created five CDs.
