The Mission Chamber Orchestra of San Jose closes its 2011-12 season with a concert devoted to the guitar, an instrument particularly well suited to the intimacy of Le Petit Trianon. Guitarist Marc Teicholz and poet Nils Peterson join the MCOSJ in a program featuring works of Mendelssohn, Vivaldi, Tann, Mozart and a world premiere by South Bay composer Lee Actor.

This concert features pianist Tavit Tashjian. The program is scheduled to include Ludwig van Beethoven's Symphony no. 2 in D, op. 36; Dmitri Shostakovich's Piano Concerto no. 1 in C, op. 35; Felix Mendelssohn's Rondo Brillante, op. 29; and David Avshalomov's Elegy.

Mission Chamber Orchestra's annual Portuguese concert brings riches from an otherwise neglected national musical tradition. This one will be no exception. The program is scheduled to include Nocturno by Antonio Fragoso and Symphony No. 2 by Luis de Freitas Branco. Soprano Elizabeth Madeiros Hogue will be performing songs and opera arias.
