  I had heard that "First Day of School" was a "comedy" but I was totally unprepared for that level of humor -- plus, in my view, this should be called a farce, but with

  Alongside a stellar supporting cast, Thomas Gorreebeck as Hamlet is riveting from the moment he takes the stage. His range of facial emotion and, above all, the subtleties he is able to express in his voice bring a heightened sense of drama to this already most dramatic of works. In her later scenes especially, Sarah Moser as Ophelia draws the viewer into her character’s fragile world with her exquisite portrayal. There were many moments in the play when it was absolutely silent in the theater, as audience members, completely caught up in the drama, waited to hear what twists the next words would bring. The minimalist set and contemporary costumes work well, allowing the language and complex emotions to take center stage. Excellent adaptation and direction by Kit Wilder makes this play a must-see.
