Valor of Honor - Film Screening

JAMsj and the Contemporary Asian Theater Scene (CATS) present a special screening of the film, Valor with Honor, an independent documentary film based on more than 35 interviews of Japanese American veterans who served in the 442nd Regimental Combat Team during WWII. This small segregated unit of 3,500 men is the most decorated American unit for its size and length of service. By the end of WWII, the 442nd would be awarded with seven Presidential Unit Citations, 21 Medals of Honor,

Pianist Patricia Cheng and friends will perform a program of solo and chamber music by Bach, Beethoven and Brahms, illuminating the role of the past in the creative process. This concert is the final event in Sunday Arts Live 2011, a performance series celebrating National Arts and Humanities Month, presented by Arts Action 21 in collaboration with the City of Mountain View Performing Arts Committee and Contemporary Asian Theater Scene.

The Japanese American Museum of San Jose and Contemporary Asian Theater Scene will present screenings of the highly acclaimed Tokyo Broadcasting System film series, 99 Years of Love. The extremely popular series is composed of five segments that will be shown at JAMsj on consecutive Sundays as part of the Sunday Serials program.

The epic tale spans a period of ninety-nine years and chronicles the journey of one family, beginning with the immigration of the Issei father

Contemporary Asian Theater Scene presents the first in a series of films shown in San Jose's Japantown. The South Bay premiere of The Virtues of Corned Beef Hash and Camp Amache: An American Tragedy will be shown before and after the Day of Remembrance event.

Kervwin Berk, writer/director of Corned Beef Hash, and actors Hiroshi Kashiwagi and Tim Yamamura will participate in a panel following the film.
