The San Jose Museum of Quilts and Textiles, recognized as the oldest quilt museum in the United States, was founded in 1977 by the Santa Clara Valley Quilt Association. In 2005, it became one of the top ten attractions in San Jose.

The mission of the San Jose Museum of Quilts and Textiles is to promote the art, craft and history of quilts and other textiles. Textile art transcends cultural, ethnic and age boundaries and encompasses traditional as well as contemporary forms. The Museum provides a serious venue for all artists working with textiles. Its exhibits and programs promote the appreciation of quilts and textiles as art and provide an understanding of their role in the lives of their makers, in cultural traditions, and as historical documents.

Wonderful. Amazing. But in the review they say that historic American Crazy Quilts came from these. No those were of natural necessity and common sense. These are art pieces. Hardly something a frontiers woman would have seen. Still both are an art form - honestly these are royal artist/servant made not the Egalitarian Frontier Art. Collapse
