It includes the California Chinese Youth Symphony, performing on traditional Chinese instruments; Berkeley’s Korean Traditional Drumming Ensemble, EGO; and the Sawai Koto Ensemble of San Francisco. Tickets are half price for groups of ten or more. 	Stanford Opera Workshop... Der Jasager Presented by Stanford University Department of Music and Stanford Pan-Asian Music Festival at Dinkelspiel Auditorium - Stanford University February 4, 2012 Bertold Brecht and Kurt Weill’s Der Jasager (The Yea-sayer) is an educational piece written in Germany in 1930 promoting individual sacrifice for the good of the community. The libretto is based on Taniko, a centuries-old Japanese Noh drama. The performance features Stanford Opera Workshop singers and chamber orchestra, Stanford Taiko, Chorus of the German International School of Silicon Valley, and others--with the support of music director Marie-Louise Catsalis.   Well, it was an alright concert. Bach, Tchaikovsky arrangement, Brouwer, a Turina Sonata and various flamenco repertoire. You've got to start your concerts with easier pieces. Don't go into a Bach... Expand

  Well, it was an alright concert. Bach, Tchaikovsky arrangement, Brouwer, a Turina Sonata and various flamenco repertoire. You've got to start your concerts with easier pieces. Don't go into a Bach partita cold. The way Ferguson played was like he had decided the program just a few days ago. Ugh, all of that fret buzz, no variation in tone color. The music stand between the player and the audience was a pugnacious barrier. Something positive, I enjoyed the flamenco side of the program. But please acknowledge the audience when we clap for you before you turn to the next page of the lecture notes. Connecting to the audience just seemed so hard tonight. So did the music. Collapse

  I came to see him playing guitar at Stanford and I did enjoy it a lot. I recommend you bring your family and friends. Since Ferguson is not very young (I wish good artists live forever) we should... Expand
