Concert Wind and Percussion Ensemble Concert

The Concert Wind Ensemble is designed to develop the overall ability of the young woodwind and brass musicians. Students in this ensemble perform band works at grades 2-4 which is standard for most middle school ensembles. Concert Winds is also designed for the more proficient high school/middle school musician desiring to learn a new instrument to enhance the ensemble instrumentation and balance in their current school program.

The Chamber Orchestra is one of San Jose Youth Symphony’s premiere ensembles alongside the Philharmonic Orchestra. It is for musicians of high school age at the advanced musical level. The Chamber Orchestra will perform two concerts every season. Programs will include chamber orchestra works as well as music written for small chamber groups and solo parts.

The Intermezzo String Ensemble prepares young musicians for playing in a full orchestra. Members perform string music that builds upon theoretical and musical concepts covered in the Prelude String Ensemble. Emphasis is given to listening skills as related to playing in a large ensemble.
