The San Jose Chamber Orchestra is a twenty-member professional string orchestra, founded in 1991 by conductor Barbara Day Turner, with a stated purpose of presenting high-quality chamber orchestra repertoire to the community. It is dedicated to systematically mainstreaming quality chamber orchestra repertoire written by composers with a wide spectrum of ethnic and/or stylistic backgrounds into its regular subscription series.

	Winter's Gifts: Celtica - Holiday Concert Presented by The Choral Project and San Jose Chamber Orchestra at Mission Santa Clara de Asis December 18, 2011 Ring in the holidays with The Choral Project and San José Chamber Orchestra in a concert that celebrates the wonder and joy of the winter season. Inspired by Celtic music, highlights include the powerful "Threnody" by Tarik O'Regan, "Pacem: Find Love" from Ben Allaway's monumental Heaven & Earth: A Celtic Mass, Michael Touchi's Celtic arrangement of the classic Hanukkah song "Mi Yimalel," and an excerpt from Charles B. 	Long Live Life - Staged Music and Narration Presented by The Retro Dome and San Jose Chamber Orchestra at The Retro Dome September 25, 2011 An evening of affirmation and remembrance of the Jewish experience through music and text. Adapted from the name of an actual cabaret show performed in Theresienstadt (Long Live Life:Theresienstadt 1941-1945), the evening features a one-hour performance of staged music and narration. All the music was written by prominent composers while they were detained at the camp. (Karel Svenk, Viktor Ullman, Gideon Klein, and others). Then, the movie will be introduced by Barbara Day Turner. F. Murray Abraham earned a Best Actor Oscar for his imperious performance in Amadeus as Antonio Salieri, a mediocre composer whose churlish young rival, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (Tom Hulce), wins immortality with his musical genius.
