	This Kind of Bird Flies Backward - Paintings by Joan Brown Presented by San Jose Museum of Art at San Jose Museum of Art October 14, 2011-March 11, 2012 The San Jose Museum of Art will explore the work of the pivotal Bay Area artist Joan Brown (1938-1990). The exhibition, the first major survey of Brown’s art in a decade, is the first to examine and stake a claim for her work in the context of the women’s movement.   I just discovered that the Wayne Thibaud talk has been sold out for 2 months. I have been looking forward to attending this since it was announced well before that. Keeping this a small event is a disservice to the local art community. Seeing that many people want to hear Thibaud, the museum should have found a larger venue. I am deeply disappointed in the Museum staff for being so short-sighted. This does NOT build goodwill with the membership or with interested non-members. Collapse
