The paintings, photographs and prints included in From Here to There express the artists' personal attachment to the places that sutain and foster the creative muse. The artists have worked to bring together an exhibition of landscapes that transport the viewer to a place of quiet and contemplation that will relax and inspire.

Artist Terri Wilson Moore is presenting her latest pastel landscapes inspired by her daily hikes through the Peninsula foothills. The paintings are filled with twisting trees and green growth that obscure the view of the sky. She left out any sign of trails or pathways to give the feeling of being surrounded by the forest in spring.

Painter Elizabeth Noerdlinger works with oils to paint scenes from nature. She loves to watch the drifting clouds and is endlessly fascinated with sunlight and how it illuminates and colors elements of the landscape. Her paintings for this show connect together, as in a puzzle offering the viewer a journey “from here to there.”

Printmaker, Diana Herring, believes it impossible to reproduce the beauty of nature and focuses instead on creating an alternative reality. “Clouds, mountains and trees become thoughts and feelings. The landscape becomes a story”, says Herring.

Photographer, Cheryl Shepard, focuses on abstract qualities of proportion, contrast and pattern that translate the landscape into a poetic and abstract vision.

Photographer Brandy Brune, a frequent wilderness traveler, says, her “goal, in her work, is to capture unusual and varied landscapes”. Two of the artists draw inspiration further away to show us a different perspective of nature.

Rosemary DiNardo, from San Jose, has painted landscapes of midwestern prairies, inspired by her memories of growing up in Illinois. They convey the feeling of what it’s like to be out in the open and surrounded by nothing but sky.

And photographer, Arup Biswas, refers to his photographs as “spiritual landscapes”. Says Biswas, “ I use landscapes as a mirror in which we see the reflection of our internal feelings. I strive to create a print that is the perfect fusion of line, form, texture and color.” Please join us for the first show of the New Year!
