    Lunar New Year Celebration

    The San Jose Museum of Art will celebrate the Year of the Lion with a day of family activities including a traditional Lion Dance, art-making activities, storytelling, performances by area youth groups, and more. 2010 is the Year of the Lion in the Chinese tradition, and Chinese New Year is marked by the lunar calendar.     The San Jose Museum of Art will celebrate the Year of the Lion with a day of family activities including a traditional Lion Dance, art-making activities, storytelling, performances by area youth groups, and more. 2010 is the Year of the Lion in the Chinese tradition, and Chinese New Year is marked by the lunar calendar. The lion dance is a folk tradition performed by acrobats and martial artists dressed in colorful costumes and accompanied by drums and gongs. Planned art making activities will include paper lanterns, dancing lions, and paper tangram puzzles. Storytellers will tell tales related to the Year of the Lion. (Activities and entertainment are subject to change.)
