Nurit Jugend, an Israeli born composer who holds a Ph.D. in Musical Arts from Stanford University, used the music written and performed by Jews in Nazi ghettos and concentration camps to guide her quest to learn more about the Holocaust. November 16: Music in Terezienstadt

During this presentation we will hear about the importance of music in the camps through the eyes of a young boy in Terezienstadt. This rare and moving testimony of 'musical memories' from the camps by survivor Frank Grunwald. We will witness other types of music performances in the ghetto such as Brundibar children's opera, piano recitals and music by Classical composers.
