Please join the San Jose Multicultural Artists Guild & Teatro Familia Aztlan as they celebrate The Day of the Dead with their 12th Annual Comparsa (procession), Children’s Camp, Library Altar Exhibits, Food and Product Vendors and Entertainment.

Partners for this event include: City of San Jose, Castellano Family Foundation, Target Stores, Mexican American Studies Department and Cesar Chavez Community Action Program at San Jose State University, Assemblymember Joe Coto, and Councilmembers Madison Nguyen and Sam Liccardo.

The Day of the Dead is a time for the dead to return home and visit family, feast on their favorite food, listen to music and spend time with their loved ones. Family members honor their dearly departed with altars, "ofrendas" or offerings, which may consist of photographs, bread, candles, food and flowers.

    The day's schedule is...

11am Gather at Park Center Plaza across from Cesar Chavez Park, Corner of Market and San Fernando Streets. Bring a memory or ofrenda of a deceased loved one to place on the altar that we will create. Come in costume!

12pm Procession begins on Market and ends at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. library corner of San Fernando and 4th Streets

12:45pm-3:00pm Opening Ceremonies, Performances, Children's Culture Camp, Food and Product Vendors, Altar Exhibits, and face painting. Have your picture taken with a live skeleton! Have a great day, remembering the dead and enjoying the living!
