As the title of this show implies, these are four different artists showing very different work. Patricia Nojima uses watercolor to produce paintings of nature’s colors and contrasts. Sandra Cochran is a figurative painter showing oil on canvas. Cassandra Gay is a printmaker specializing in monotypes influenced by Nathan Oliveira and Georgia O’Keeffe. Nancy Coleman uses the digital medium to express transient beauty in organic materials.

Despite their use of different media and different perspectives, the four artists have a similar artistic approach that is the core of this show. They all reflect the colors, compositions, and textures of nature as seen through the eyes of an artist. Patricia paints with the colors of nature – colors she both sees and feels. Nancy looks into the intricate details of how nature designs organic materials and turns that insight into a work of art. Cassandra echoes nature’s sights and wildlife as the subject of her artwork. Sandra frequently paints from nature as well, striving to capture the stillness of the moment.

All shown together, the images in Paint, Paper, Canvas, Ink depict the variety of contrast and styles found in nature and life.
