Presenting the 2009-10 Evening of Cultural Arts Series, the nineteenth season of eclectic arts offerings at the intimate Sunnyvale Theatre. This year's theme celebrates "world talent in a neighborhood venue." Brasil Brazil - Carnaval of Song:  Carnaval comes to Sunnyvale with a Valentine’s weekend performance by Brasil Brazil. Singers Ana Gazzola and Sonia Santos, backed by their Latin jazz band, bring classic and contemporary Brazilian sounds to the stage in a colorful, high energy show. Their diverse and playful repertoire ranges from sambas popularized by Carmen Miranda and Girl From Ipanema composer Vinicius de Moraes to a bossa nova take on Kurt Cobain’s song Come as You Are, from the Nirvana album Nevermind and originals by both women. The pair also plays a number of authentic Brazilian percussion instruments like agogos (bells) and pandeiros (tambourines).
