  Having recently seen the film for the first time, I was dubious that a staged version could capture not only Marlon Brando's performance, but also the very stylized and specific cinematic quality of the film. Despite some theatrical devices that I normally despise (chairs instead of realistic furnitire, actors playing multiple parts, that type of thing) I enjoyed the creative interpretation. They did exactly what they needed to do to pull off this classic, iconic story that had been told effectively on screen. My suggestion, see the film AFTER the play if you haven't already seen it and enjoy this cleverly staged and entertaining story for what it is, a stnd alone ensemble play. Collapse
