    Under the direction of PACO music director, Benjamin Simon, the season's first concert of PACO's outstanding Debut Orchestra features a wide range of musical styles. The program includes Vivaldi's brilliant Concerto Grosso Opus 3, Number 11 in D minor, a masterpiece of Baroque string writing.     Under the direction of PACO music director, Benjamin Simon, the season's first concert of PACO's outstanding Debut Orchestra features a wide range of musical styles. The program includes Vivaldi's brilliant Concerto Grosso Opus 3, Number 11 in D minor, a masterpiece of Baroque string writing. Ernst Toch's popular work for spoken chorus, Geographical Fugue, was a big hit when it was first performed in Germany in 1930. Haydn's famous Toy Symphony adds whistles, bells, drums, and a toy trumpet to a classical orchestra for this delightful bit of classical foolishness. Peter Warlock's Capriol Suite is a favorite for string orchestra; based on Renaissance tunes and dances, this varied and vivacious work is almost as much fun to listen to as to perform. In addition to the four primary pieces, chamber music will be performed by small ensembles of Debut members.
