  I would have thought that this series of topical monologues could not have been woven into a cogent ensemble play, but for me the actors made it a really enjoyable and sometimes even edifying... Expand

  I would have thought that this series of topical monologues could not have been woven into a cogent ensemble play, but for me the actors made it a really enjoyable and sometimes even edifying light entertainment. This was supposed to be a comedy on a serious (if sexy) topic, I think, and there certainly was plenty of humor. No cheap jokes, and nothing raunchy. Just smart. Rita, Lurene and Cleo were really interesting, enjoyable, classic characters. And Cynthia played a strong, pivotal role; At one point in the story, her anguished sobs were almost too convincing for me. Jake, the only male in the cast, was a hoot. It was all happening just a few feet in front of me. Nothing could have been more intimate. Collapse
