SUMMARY:Sizzling Semiconductor Summer
DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:Event Name: Sizzling Semiconductor Summer=0D=0AEvent Url: http://www.livesv.com/event/detail/52161=0D=0AEvent Date Begin: 2009-06-22=0D=0AEvent Date End: 2009-08-15=0D=0A=0D=0AComputer chips are everywhere - powering the Internet, controlling cars, automating factories, enhancing cell phones, and enriching home entertainment. A program at the Intel Museum helps children learn about computer chip science while completing fun, hands-on activities. Participants will decode a secret message, explore the inside of a laptop, make a musical greeting card, and more. The summer features four different themes: 1. Code and Conductivity--Learn how computers 'talk' in code, and test the conductivity of different materials to learn about semiconductors. 2. Sensational Circuits--Build working circuits and discover that a computer chip the size of a fingernail contains millions of circuits. 3. Keeping It Clean--Find out why tiny dust particles are not welcome in a fabrication facility, and conduct an experiment to count particles in the air. 4. Fabulous Fabs--Explore the magic of UV light. Each program lasts about 45 minutes and includes guided and self-paced activities. All participants must be accompanied by an adult who remains in the museum during the program. Attend each of the 4 programs and receive a prize!=0D=0A=0D=0AStart time:Drop-in Program: Mon, Wed, Fri, Sat: 10am-4pm=0D=0A==0D=0A=Code and Conductivity: 6/22, 24, 26, 27; 7/20, 22, 24, 25=0D=0A=Sensational Circuits: 6/29; 7/1, 27, 29, 31; 8/1=0D=0A=Keeping It Clean: 7/6, 8, 10, 11; 8/3, 5, 7, 8=0D=0A=Fabulous Fabs: 7/13, 15, 16, 18; 8/10, 12, 14, 15
