 rtistic achievements on the two-hundredth anniversary of his birth\, Music
 @Menlo's 2009 festival presents the composer's greatest chamber works\, in
 cluding his seminal string quartet cycle\, the two magnificent piano trios
 \, and the immortal Octet (composed when Mendelssohn was only sixteen year
 s old)\, among other works&mdash\;acknowledged masterpieces and rediscover
 ed gems alike. By presenting Mendelssohn's music alongside works by his pr
 edecessors\, contemporaries\, and artistic heirs\, Being Mendelssohn illum
 inates the composer's deeply personal and richly nuanced art from multiple
  perspectives.\n2009 Prelude Performances and Koret Young Performers Conce
 rts\nThe rigorous training program for young artists offered by the Chambe
 r Music Institute culminates in the festival's series of Prelude Performan
 ces and Koret Young Performers Concerts. These outstanding preconcert reci
 tals\, performed by the extraordinary Institute musicians\, continue to ga
 rner enthusiastic acclaim from audiences and critics alike.\nPrelude Perfo
 rmances\, featuring the International Program artists\, and Koret Young Pe
 rformers Concerts\, featuring students in the Young Performers Program\, a
 re free and open to the public\, offering an ideal setting for new listene
 rs and young audiences to discover great music and join in the festival ex
 perience.\nPlease note: Due to overwhelming demand\, a free seat pass is n
 ow required for all Prelude Performances and Koret Young Performers Concer
 ts. One seat pass per person can be requested at the will-call table begin
